PORT CHALMERS TOWN COUNCIL.
The adjourned meeting of thfe above Council 1 Was held last evening, when there were present-—His Worship the Mayor, Cra M’Gregor, Asher, Middleditch, and Miller. On the minutes being.read,Cr Ashee stated that if he had been present at the previous meeting he would have voted against such a resolution being passed, as that a certain latter shouldbe considered 100 years hence. . He would, however? not object to the minutes being confirmed. The following correspondence was read:—From Mr Usher, assistant engineer, enclosing tracings'of the survey of a road from the' Port Chalmers and Blueskin road to the Port Chalmers Cemetery, which line was agreed upon by Messrs M’Gregor and Grant, on behalf of the Town Gotmoilofi the 14th February, w th the understanding that a survey should be made and plans submitted to the District Engineer for his approval, also stating that the- Go* vemment would form and’ metal the road? in accordance with the seotiop shown on the tracings, subject to the understanding that the Toym Council of Port Chalmers should make no further claim ou the Government for toads to and fromthe Cemetery. The plan was adopted. Mr E. Shield’s application to lease a piece of gtohnd in Macandrew terrace at L 4 per annum, was ordered to stand over until the next meeting.—Mr J. PeterPeterson—complaint of a deep drain having been ent opposite his property, and asking the Council to fill up the same—was referred to the Inspector of Works to report upon.—Mr George Wilson’s application to lease section 293 at L 4 per annum, was granted, subject to the usual conditions. —The ■ Inspector of Works asked authority to repair the local crossings in George street ,; the same to be charged against the owners. It was resolved that the Clerk write to the owners of the crossings to put them in proper repair. The ratepayers of South Word called attention to the drain along the footpath in front of Mr Shaw’s, in Mmdiau street, that there was no outlet for the' same, and suggested that the dromond footpath should be carried as far as Mr Perry's section, 388, so that the drain could discharge i self into Laing street. Referred to the Inspector. His Worship then submitted for the councillors’ approval a plan showing the proposed line of kerbing between Dodson’s new hotel and the railway station, which was ordered to stand over until next
meeting. « CtTM’Gssoob’s notice of motion," That apioket fence be erected along Inland Terrace, wherethe same is considered dangerous,” was, after considerable discussion, lost by the casting vote of Hie Mayor. ■ ; :
