WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held this forenoon, when there were present—the Chief Commissioner (in the chair), Messrs Beid, Clark, Butter worth, and Strode; and the following business was transact-d;—
Mr Arthur Smith’s application for section 2 of 3, block 7, Papakio, being the same as applied for at the lost meeting by Mr John M’Leau, and known as the Ferry Reserve, was postponed pending the Banger’s report. The District Land Officer at Clyde forwarded for the Board’s consideration, occupation license No 818. The executors in GoodalTs estate are compelled to realise, aud to oblige them to retain the deferred payment section would swamp the whole estate. It was m‘noted that the Board has no power to grant an assigament ef the license. - The District Land Officer at Lawrence reported on the application of the Foresters, to be allowed to purchase sections 16 and 17, block 16. Havelock, township.' To be pnt up at the next sale (improvements added in the usual way). Banger Valpy reported, for the Board’s information, that he cannot demand payment for the timber seized by him at Mount Boyal Bush reserve, as he is unable to prove whether any of the' timber had beck cdt on pnvato property uniil boundary line u surveyed. , A,letter frofoßangtr Valpy, with reference td tlmher etit by MrN. J. M'dregcr’s.mea on run 39, Was also read. The matter of the lease of the Falls Reserve to the Mataora Paper Mill Company Was reconsidered, aud it was, after discussion, decided that the -tern should be for twenty-one years: the first seven years to be at pepper born rent, the second .seven years at Lls per annum, and the third seven years at L 25 per annum; the condition of minute of December 15,1875 (No. 2), to be included. The District Land Officer at Clyde reported on the letter of objections of James Grant -to laud in the t9wnship of Ettrick being illegally occupied hy ■ certain persons. Notice to be sent accordingly, aud warning given to persons trespassing. The Warden at Clyde reported on applications by Bobert Patrick for section 5, block 6 (40 acres), aud Robert M’Leod, for section 4, block 6(25 acres), Benger district, and advised that the land bo not sold, but that to occupy night begitm*#
