ACCIDENT IN THE BAY.
Yesterday afternoon Mr Caldwell received information from the prisoners* hulk that between twelve and one a.m. a small. boat, sailed by two brothers, named Cowie, one of whom is a clerk in the Bank of New Zealand, capsized in the Bay between the hulk and Bavensboume. t The accident was- observed by Sergeant Ferguson, in charge .of the pri. soners, who sent to the young men's assistance the prison boat, manned by two prisoners, under the charge of Warders Coneys and M'Neisb, who succeeded in rescuing the Cowies, who had clung to the bottom of their boat. They were taken on board the hulk, and in the evening were able to return to their home at the Water-of-Leith.
