i The following were the complet* scores made in the 1 ifles v. Cat bines match, -fired between the ten highest aggregate i-coie-i in the competition for’.he Rifle and ('aibino Champi> nstiijp.--The ranges we e 200, .400, and 800 yards j seven shots at each range. ~
After the All-comers’ match a sweep was got up, the being 200, 400, and 500 yards, the prize winners ranking as follows: - Ist, Morrow (Auckland), 50, prize L2lo*; 2nd,. Harding (Otago), 49, prize LL There were also range prizes, won by Gilbert A C., and Smith—who divided—at 200 yards ; Doige (Aebon), 400 yards; and Harding (< »tago),soo yards. The friendly challenge match, Wanganui Rifles versus Representatives, that is ten of the first-mentioned corps against the five highest and five lowest aggregate scorers in the Infant) y matches terminated in favor of the ’ Representatives by 315 against 327. The ranges were—4oo, 500, and 600 yards; six shots at each range. The terms of the contest were, that after every third shot—six shots at each range being the prescribed number—a change s of Weapons was effected, those used being long hj and short Sniders. Thus it happened that eaon competitor fired every alternate three shots with a change, of weapon. At the oonclusi n, of the match a synopsis of the scoring was :" w. rked out, the result being in favor of the , ' long Snider in the proportion of 339 to 333. ,'Jhe next match was .Scottish v. Colonial! * five men aside, and five shots at 460,500, and 600 yards ranges. The* totals were—Scottish team, 197 points; Colonia's, 161. The highest ■ scorer in the Scottish team was Richardson, - tago, 44; and the highest in the Colonials,: Adams, Otago, 37. The last match of the meeting was the
Small-Bobe Match.—Ranges, 600, 700, and 300 yards; seven shots at each.
Wilson carried off the first prize, equal to four-st venths of the entrance money, or L 51 4. 3id; Ghurton. the second, two-seventh®, L2 ifs l^d; and Adams tie third one seventh, > 1 8s 6&d. In a second small-bore match, ranges 700' ‘ and 800 yards, seven shots at each range, Gitdoi, ihames, was the highest; 45; Kim-swell, nvercagill 44 f Wilso , Otago, 2; .Fenton, Thames, 41 Gordon carried off the first prize , V L3lOs), aud Kingswei! the second (Li 10 ).
