DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB RACES. j The following acceptances for the events , to be run at the March meeting were made at the Empire Hotel last evening : i MAIDEN PLATE.
The entries for the Forbury Handicap, Flying Handicap, and Novel Race have been already published; the weights for the first two will be declared on the night of the second day’s racing, for the Novel Race on the night of the fjrst day’s racing. Last year there were seven entries for the Maiden Plate, eleven acceptors (out of nineteen who paid the first instalment) for the Cup, six entries for the Newmarket Stakes, fourteen acceptors (out of twenty-one entries) for the Publicans’ Handicap, eight entries for the Selling Race, ten acceptors (eleven entries) for the Hurdle Race, thirteen acceptors (twenty-three entries) for the D.J.G. Handicap, nine entries for the Novel Race, seven acceptors (nine entries) for the Steeplechase, twenty-four entries for the Forbury Handicap, seven for the Town Plate, and seventeen for the Flying Handi- ' INVERCARGILL RACES. The following are the entries and acceptances for the above races, run on the 16th and 17th inst.:— : Publicans’ Handicap,—Mr White’s Atlas, 9st 41b; Mr Baines’s Dream, 7st 81b. Ladies’ Pdese.— Mr M'Coll’s Brutus, Mr White’s Sir Tatton, Mr Kelso's Nigger, Mr Pollock’s Bothwell. Invercargill Derby.— Mr Farrell’s Nimblefoot, Mr Baines’s Al, Mr Walker's colt (unnamed), Mr Pollock’s Fanny Fern. ; Handicap Hurdle Race.— Mr White’s Sir Tatton, lost 121b; Mr Kelso’s Day Dream, 10st: Mr M’Coll’s Brutus.
Invercargill Handicap.— Mr White’s Atlas, Mr Raines’s Taffrail, Mr Kelso’s Day Dream and Nigger, Mr Walker’s colt (unnamed), Mr Pollock’s Bothwell.
