THE VOLUNTEERS.
The Dunedin Artillery fired for the district prizes this morning at the Anderson’s Bay range. The conditions were seven shots at ranges of 200, 300, and 500 yards, thirdclass targets at the first two ranges, and second class at 500 yards; position, standing at 200 yards, and any at the other, ranges. The weather was good, with a slight breeze from' the left, and a dull ‘ light,. and the targets ‘ approached the undistinguishable as nearly as possible, rendering the shooting, especially at the last range; very uncertain. Several promising young shots are well to the fore, and will evidently make warm work for some of the team-be/pre the end of the season.
