KAIKORAI.

A meeting was held last evening at the Drill Shed, Kaikorai, in accordance with the ady< rt’s. raent. About thirty attended, and Mr Cudnin hatn occupied the cha : r, and in h’s r marks mentioned that a considerable amount of dia- < rgan'sat’on exists in the Kaikorai Church ; that nearly all the old members have ’eft it, and cannot attend in its present state. Mr Thompson, one of the elders, stated that they did not want to interfere with those at present attending the Kaikorai Church. Mr G. Miller then moved the first resolution, which was : econd ;d by Mr THOMSON and carv ed unanimously

That in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable that another place of worship be opened in the district, for the benefit of those who cannot at present attend the Kaikorai Church, or who belong to other denominations of the Christian Church, and others resident in the district.

Mr Johnson said he was precluded from taking an active part with them at present, on account of hi* position in the Church, but in another month he hoped to give them his best seivices.

Mr Mackenzie said it was with regret that the meeting had to adopt the course they were puisu’ng, but the delegates from the Prrsby tery, who had atteuded a special congregati nal meeting professedly to set rasters right, had i-hown such sympathy for the cloth, pooh-pooh-ing the remarks of those who stated their grievances, and altogether treating >hem in a contemptuous way that there was no alternative but to do what they wero doing. Mr Matheson then proposed,

That an Interim Committee be appointed to carry out the objects of the meeting; said committee to consist of the following gentlemen ; Messrs Thompson, Jas. Cunningham, John Mackenzie, George Miller, Alex. Miller senr., G. Bain, and D. Mathieson, with power to add to their number.

This was canned unanimously, and the meeting then separated after the usual vote of thanks.
