OTAGO ELEVEN v. NEXT.FIFTEEN. This match was continued on Saturday, but lost much of its interest by the miserable failure of the fifteen m their first innings. The eleven had put togotuer 185 m their first innings, and it was thought that the fifteen would attain a century without any difficulty, but the fates were unpromtjous, ten wickets falling for 56, and the innings closing for 02 The play does not call for ihucU comment, being on tbe whole exceedingly loose. Meares played a pretty innings for 24. givmg only one chance, which was declined by M. Godby. Macfarlane, who has not played fer the last two seasons, exhibited much of his old form. The eleven’s fielding was exceedmgly loose, and some of the occupants of the navihon exhibited very bad taste .by invariably calling ‘ latmprovincial ” when any of the fieldsmen • dlßtlu e u «b himself.
