Auckland, March 4 A case of scarlet fever occurred among the Salisbury immigrants at the depot, and has been isolated.
~ , . Nelson, March 4. After two day s inquiry, John Millar, ?ate Provincial Engineer, was committed for trial on a charge of obtaining money under fiilse pretences from the Provincial Government. He was admitted to bail—himself in L3OO. and two sureties of LICO each. ’ (From our own Correspondent.) Riverton, Maroh.fi. All the charges of assault laid by Mr Ppcrudfoot against the Provincial Govemmeiit iemploy& have been withdrawn, the Government agreeing to pay the men for their lost timo other expenses.
