Mr Skene reports that the market mores along quietly. Ordinary laborers and men with farm or station knowledge are easily placed. Skilled tradesmen find it mere difficult to get into their particula* groove. Shepherds are scarce, while coupU.s arc too plentiful. Shopmen and clerks are taking, the hint and trying other employment. Female servants of experience are decidedly difficult to line!. Gardeners and bushmeu quiet. Wages : Couples, from L 65 to L 80; shepherds L 65 to L7O; ploughmen, L'2 to L 65; day labor, bush, road, and bul-lock-driving, 8s and Dr:; carpenters, Us, 13s, nud 18s; hotel females, 12s, l&i, to 80s per week; house do, dOs to 15s; boys and girls, Gs to 10s; milkers mid odd hands, 10s to 20s; storemen, from Bfis to 60s ■ cooks, waiters, grooms, &c., 25s to 45s per week.
