CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, March 1. (Before T. Birch, Fsq., and W, H. Keynolds, Esq., J.P.’s)
# Drunkenness. —Del a M‘Leod, who appeared in Court with an infant in her arms, was charged with drunkenness.—Constable Stewart said that the woman was so drunk that she let her child fall on the pavement in Princes street. As she was an old offender, she was fined 40s, or, in default, fourteen days’ imprisonment. Trumpery Charge.—Two 1 ttle girls named Waddel were charged with assau : tiog Janet Barclay, a cripple. Mr M'Keay def nd<A— The Bench, without calling on Mr M'Keay for witnesses, dismissed the case, it being of so trivial a nature that it should never have come into Court.
Neighbors’ Quarrels.— Dinah Rove was charged with assaulting and beating Fanny Greaves at Otepopo. Mr E. Cook appeared for complainant, and Mr Sinclair defended.— There was a avss-aotion, in which Mrs Greaves was charged with assaulting Mrs Rove. As Mrs Greaves’s testimony was unsubstantiated, and as it was contradict d by the other complainant, who deposed that she w s assaulted and call-d two witnesses who co roborated her evidence, the first case was dismissed. In the cross-action Mrs Greaves was fined 20s, and co-ts.
