# Wellington, January 2& A. Fidelity Guarantee Society is being floated here. Subscriptions to the amount 'of L 45,000 have already been secured in Wellington, i Canterbury, and Otago. A proportion If the capital is reserved for Auckland. The Mayor of Wellington r ceived to-day a congratulatory reply from the Lord M >yor of Ixtndon, re the establishment of telegraphic communication. The telegram was dated London, February 24. ; February 28.; with the recommendation of the Finance Committee during last session tenders will be invited to day from the several banks for the Government account.
_ . Auckland, February 26. The dissolution of the partnership of Messrs Seed and Brett is announced to-day.. Mr Reed’s half-share in the ‘Star- is sold to Brett for 1.4,000. The Dunedin ‘ Guardian * was bought byrMr Stout bn behalf of Mr Reed.
