WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning; present—The Chief Comissioner Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, Clark, and Reid. The inhabitants of Hawk a burv petitioned that the sections lying to the east »f Edinburgh street be > offered for sale. The land has been temporarily reserved. The Clyde D. L. O. asked the Board to deal with MrW. Grant’s application to purchase three acres adjoining Clyde bridge reserve, the plan having been lodged for approval and the runholder’s consent obtained. Application approved j price L 3 per acre. Applications to exchange agricultural for deferred payment leases Mr onald M Gunn, section 9, block 4,' rookston (approved); Messrs John and William Honey, sections 51, 52, and s*, block 3, Benger (approved): Mr A. H. Douglas, sections *1 12, 20, and 31, block 9, Shotover (approved); Mr Thomas M Intyre, sections 45, 46, and 86, blocu J, Shotover (ap proved). Applications to purchase under agricultural leases Mr Timothy Sheehy, section 38 and 39, block 3, Benger (approved); Mr David M'Daren, section 1 of 15, block 2, and section 2 of 25, block 3, Table Hill (approved). Applications to purchase under exchanged deferred payment leases : Mr Robert Gilmour, sections 19, 28, 32, and 63, block 4, and 15 and 26, block 19, Shotover (approved); Mr William Gilmour, sections 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and 27, block 4, Shotover (approved); Messrs R. and W. Gilmour, sections 23, 24, 33, and 34, block 4, Shotover (ap roved). Mr J. B. Henderson, for Mr William Brown, applied to purchase a piece of land opposite section 9, block 9, Balclutha, temporarily reserved for railway purposes, but not now required for such. Balclutha Corporation to be asked if they have any objections to Paisley street line being straightened. The Naseby District Land Officer forwarded an application by Mr J. W nn to purchase fifty acres near pre-emptive right of ten acres on section -21, Waihemo, recommending that it be granted. Survey to be submi' ted. The Chief (’ommissioner drew the Board’s attention to clause 12 of the Act of 1875, proriding that duplicated deferred payment sections are to be sold by auct on to be held at time and place the Board may appoint, and asked the Board to decide whether they would fix the date of auction in each case, or whether, as formerly, the proceedings shall be conducted by District Officers—the auction taking the place of the ballot. District Officers to be asked to appoint days and places for and on behalf of the Board, who, if necessary, will confirm the same. Government recommended that the following sections be d-dared land of special value and sold at auction on February 28 clause 85 of the Act of 1874, the land being of superior quality and improved by fend g, survey, and otherwise; compensation to be paid to runholders at the upset price to be gazetted: -1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10, Ha, 11 b, 12, lc, 14, and 15, Slopedown. Approved. Mr James Paul asked to withdraw his application for section 7, block 15, Waipahee, and transfer his deposit to another section. Approved.
