VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
A meeting of the North Dunedin Rifles Company was held last evening for the purpose of the election of captain in the place of|Mr Copeland, deceased. Thirty-nine members were present and underwent drill, Liaut. Pell then addressed the members, and nominated with great pleasure as their cap tain, Mr Charles Stephen Reeves, who was an old Volunteer. It was mentioned that Mr Reeves had done a great deal of good for the Volunteers here, and Sub-Lieut. Pollock said that, had it not been for Mr Reeves, the last scrip would not have been voted to the Otago Volunteers, and that Mr Reeves would do good service for the Volunteers yet. Corporal Richardson testified to the fitness of Mr Reeves for the office. There was no other candidate, and Mr Reeves was unanimously elected captain of the company. [By Teleoiu-PH.] The No. 3 Company, Auckland, have fired for choice of Colonial representatives in the first stgge with the following results ; Kelly, 87 ; Morrou, 83; Squal, 83. The Nelson Rifles have tired for district representatives. The following were the principal scores : —Crossman, 1)9 ; Dordgc, 90 ; Moore, 91 ; Martin, Paynter, Barnett, anti Burns, 88 each.
