A CAUTION.
To the Editor , Slß,—Seeing a paragraph in this evening’s issue touching the honored attendance in Dunedin of a “fair gentleman and his better half.” I beg to inform you, and those who are desirous of keeping themselves from becoming a mass of patches, that the lady an 1 gontleman in question are residing at a certain hotel m Rattray street. The gentleman, while visiting Palmerston, was recognised by a resident there, and accused of selling cloth, known as “Shoddy.” He dresses generally in a suit of grey, a hat of same color, with a black band. He manages, by oily speeches, to vend upon simple, but money saving wives, an article, which he designates “ a strong useful tweed.” Imale o> e to hunt him out of Palmerston, and would like the assistance of those who like honesty to hunt him from Dunedin. Ir. is very hard for a decent man to g*-t employment in town, and therefore I think it is taking away the place of a deserving man to allow these representatives of “gone broke” firms to remain amongst us. -** l am, &c. j J. R. Ingram. Dunedin, .January 7.
