When, however, a political organisation, composed of men having no earthly interest in the place, takes upon itself to die tate to the electors as to their choice of a re - presentative, I consider that an insult is offered to the common sense and intelligence of tire constituency. lam led, Sir, to make those remarks from the fact of my having yesterday detected Mr James M'lndoe (erstwhile a worthy predecessor of Mr Seaton in the representation of the fastidious constituency of Caversham, and, at present, I understand, a prominent member of the Anti-Centralist League) in the act of sticking up in the streets of Port Chalmers, copies of a handbill containin'" a scurrilous attack on the Hon. Mr Reynolds, and bearing for signature, **A very old Identity.” As I understand that copies of this interesting brochure (which, X am informed, was written by Mr -u'lndoo himself at the request of the leaders of vhe League) are to-morrow to be scattered broadcast over the district, I wish the electors to know from what quarter it emanates, in order that they may be in a position to estimate its contents at their proper va'ue.—l am, &c., an Independent Elector.
