WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning; present —The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Butterworth, Clark, and Strode. Mr S. Cross, as agent, is desirous of purchasing 100,000 acres of laud with easy access to a good seaport for cash, less 5 per cent discount, at three months. Boyd’s application for a seven years’ lease of section 4, block 9, Kaitaugata (temporarily reserved for coal), for grazing purposes. Refused. On receipt of the Lawrence District Land Officer’s opinion it was decided that the survey of Mr R. Coghill’s application go on ; the general plan of the township of Havelock not to be interfered with. • Mrs Margarer Monaghan asked a refund of her deposit and .survey fees on deferred payment sections J54 and 69, block 3, Tuapeka West. No power. Ranger Bolton reported on improvements on areas in Queenstown district. Agricultural lessees’ names to be kept separate from deferred payment lessees’ ; defaulters to be reported, and how they have failed to comply with the conditions. The Government recommended that the following be offered as land of special value, under clause 85 ; —Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 17a, 17b, 18, 25, 28, 31, and 34, block 9, Waikaka, upset price 25s per acre ; section 13, block 2, at 30s per acre; sections

3» and 6, block 11, Waipahee, also to bo offered for sale. Approved: to be advertised.

It was resolved that annulled licenses, i 508, and 509, Glenkenich, and, 2 and 6, Toetoes, be gazetted under clause 56, and afterwards declared open for application. Mr Mervyii applied for sections 12 and 13, block 1, Teviot. Refused, being set apart for agricultural leasing.
