FIRE AT FORBURY.
A four-roomed house owned and occupied by Mr Lovegrove, of Forbury, was completely destroyed by fire this morning. Mr Lovegrove and his wife had been at a ball at Maloney’s Hotel, and accompanied by some of their friends returned home at about one o’clock this morning. Having had tea all retired to bed abcnt half-past two, leaving a fire burning in the kitchen. The fire was composed of wood and lignite, and was in a small grate on the top of a (Colonial oven. xLt 3 20 a.m. Mr Lovegrove was awoke by finding his bed-roem full of smoke, and proceeding into the kitchen he found the fireplace in flames. The only thiugs saved were two boxes of clothing, and those persons in the honse had barely time to escape. The building is valued at i ,160, and Mr Lovegrove estimates his loss in furniture and effects at LBO. The building was insured in the Norwich Union for LloO, the effects in the same office for LoO.
