FIRE.
At a quarter past twelve o’clock last night a fire broke out in the Railway Foundry, Great King street, lately owned by \Tr .Tame-. Fraser, but since his insolvency in November last by the trustees, who conducted the business. The fire was first discovered by Sergeant Hanlon, and was then confined to the front portion of the premises, where the paints, varnish. &c., were stored. The Fire Brigade were soon on the soot, but throughout to? much confusion prevailed, several of the members taking command. We do not wish to disparage the efforts of the Fire Brigade, but would prefer to see a little more discipline in future. At the time of the insolvency the building and plant were insured in |j|the New Zealand Office for L7OO, and in the South British for L 309 The building, stock, and plant were worth about L 3,000, We have been unable to ascertain the loss, but may state that the inside ot the building was completely gutted The brick walls alone prevented the fire from spreading.
