WASTE LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Board was held this day; present—the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, and Clark. M r W. Heenan applied for a lease of section 41, block 1, Maungatua for seven years, on the usual terms. Referred to Range'' to report as to advisability of leasing and otherwise ; the rights of the woodcutters being reserved in the lease. Government recommended that section 168, block 5, district, should be offered at auction as laud of special value, at the upset price of 1-3 per acre, with valuation for improvements added. The Provincial Secretary to be as ved to forward correspondence and valuations attached to the original application. Mr W. Endow applied for a renewal of his water-race license at the Manuherikia Gorge. Approved. The plan of the township of Kelso was approved, and block 7 reserved as a camp ing ground. Ihe Naseby District Land Officer forwarded Messrs Holland and Cargill’s application for a water-race license, from the Manuherikia, three miles above Blackston, to their home station. Survey to be submitted. Mr George Thomson applied to purchase or lease sections 6 and 7, block 32, an acre of laud iu Kaitangata township east of, and adjoining section 5, block 31. Refused! The Invercargill District Land Officer enclosed a letter received by .him from Mr W Day as to his occupation of section 7, block 2, Waikaka, on deferred payments. Read. Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr A. Allan, applied to purchase 34 acres of Tapanui bush reserve, section 63, block 13, Glenkenich, for constructing a dam for working machinery for brick and tile making. Survey to be submitted and application to be advertised for objections in the ‘ Tuapeka Times.’ The Provincial Solicitor forwarded his opinion as to whether lands in block 1, Teviot, were open for agricultural leasing when Mr Holms’s application was lodged. Read.

The following applications to purchase under agricultural leases were approved : Mr I). Crowley, section 41. block 4, Tuap ka hast; Mr D. Houghan, sections II and 68, block 4, do ; Messrs Tyler and J. Drew, section 4, block 1, do ; Mr T. Crowley, section's, block 4, do ; and Mr M. Higgins, section 34, block 7, Waitahuna East.

The following applications to exchange agricultural for deferred payment leases were approved :—Mr Nicholas Paul Balshazar von Touzleman, section 4, block 3, MidWakatipu ; Mr T. Treloar, sections 97 and 98, block 1, and sections 18 and 21, block 4, Tuapeka East; Mr W. Hollands, section 30, block 4, Tuapeka East.
