CHURCH SOCIETY.
At a general meeting of Episcopalians last night, which was attended by about one hundred ladies and gentlemen, and presided over by Bishop JN'evill, the following resolutions were carried :
It being evident that there is a large amount of Church work which lies outside ef the sphere of parochial organisation, it is desirable that a Society be formed in pursuance of the resolution of the Diocesan Synod, for the promotion of such work, to be called "The Ihuroh Society of the Diocese of Dunedin. That the objects of the Society bo the raising and distribution of fundi for Church purposes generally, especial attention being given to the following :-(l). The support, in whole or in part, of clergymen, missionaries, and catechists in districts not able to undertake their entire maintainence of themselves. (2). The endowment of churches. (3). The erection of of churches and parsonages. (4). The payment of travelling expenses of Clergy into tli6 Diocese.
That all Church members bo aßked to enrol themselves as members of the Society, and to pay a subscription annually, quarterly, or monthly towaras the object thereof, being not less than Is per quarter; and that the donor or collector of the aim of LSO within any one year be a life member of the Society. That all members be entitled to vote at any general meeting of the Society. Tint the aifairs of the Society shall be managed by a General Committee consisting of a president; one or more vice-presidents, to be appointed by the annual public moating j all clergymen li eused in the diocese who are members of the society ; six lay members, to be appointed annually by lha Synod ; all life members aad representatives of parochial or district associations which-may be hereafter formed, and which subscribe annually a sum not less than L 25 to the funds of the parent society That until the next meeting of tl;e Synod of the diocese, iho committee appointed at the last meeting thereof the committee ot the Society.
