My land is sold to Europeans, and I was not a party to it, nor do I know anything .about it.” Grahamstown, December 7. _ At a special meeting of the Resident: Magistrate’s Court held tc-day, Rapana Mannganoa was charged with assaulting Judge Munro. The Judge had just delivered judgment :n the Native Lands Court, in a case in which Rapana was concerned, and adjourned the Court On attempting to leave the Court, Judge Monro was met by Rapana, who pushed him back rcpeateliy. The Judge said he had only two alternatives, “ To knock Rapana down or send for a policeman,” end he chose the latter course. Rapana, in reply to the charge, said he was <! duk” about his land being taken away, and they could now take him. The Magistrate said if Rapana had been a blustering Native he would have sent him to prison, without the option of a fine ; but as Rapana was generally quiet and peaceable, he would lino him LlO, nr a month’s imprisonment. The tine was paid, although Rapana said lie would not pay.
