THE ANDERSON’S BAY SCHOOL.
To the Editor. Fir,—l respectfully crave space in y«ur columns to make a simple statement, which will help to clear and otherwise substantiate what Mr Clark says respecting the non-deputy character of the School Committee on the occasion of their appearance before tbe Education Board on the 18 th ult. A requisition signed readily and cheerfully (none dissenting) by as many as it was considered necessary should adhibit their names thereto, twenty six, or thereabouts, bona fide settlers in the district of Anderson’s Bay (the adjoining district of Tomahawk never having been called upon to contribute a signature) was presented to the chairman of the School Committee, the Rev. James H. M'Naughton, to call a public meeting to consider the Committee’s action in asking r • lark, the teacher, to r sign prior to th • Committee taking the matter before the Education Board, and bringing it before t .c public. ‘I he chairman s r .-ply thereto was in effect as follows:—“ You ask me to call a public meeting, &c. I find I have not the power, and even although I had, I would decline to do so under present cucumstances.” The requisition will testify to a reasonable request on the part of the people ; the reply of Mr M'Naughton to headstrong intent on the part of the Committee.—l am, &c., A Requisitionist. Peninsula, December 3.
