THE NORMAL SCHOOL.

The regulations relating to the admission of students to the Normal School are published. They arc to be drawn from the following classes : —(I.) Pupil teachers who have attained the ir eighteenth year in the case of males, ami their seventeenth in the c iso of females. (2) Untrained assistant teachers and teachers who may have been in charge of schools, who have been recommended by the Inspector for a course of training. (.'! ) Other persons not un Lcr the ages specified in Class A, xior over tl.ir'y-five years ol age, who have fmmshed the Board with satisfactoiy certificates of god moral character, of sound health, and who are free from any bodily in firmity likely to impair their usefulness as teachers. Ihe Board does not bind itself to admit all canri dates of this class who may pass the entrance examination, but only .such numbers as m&} from time to time be specified. To tboae_ who succeed in passing the prescribed examination, mainteiraneeallo wance will be paid according to a s.-ale to b" hereafter fixed, but prior to admission ove.y student will have to sign a declaration that he intends bona fuh to adopt and follow the profession of teaching ; that he shall attend regularly throughout the course of training until he shall have obtained the lowest grade certificate, or shall have received permission from the i loard to discontinue attendance, or until he shall have received notice of the withdrawal of maintenance allowance ; that he shall, on the successful completion of his course of study and training, ttach in schools under the Board or a period of not less than two yearn ; and that, in the event of his failing to coirq/y with any of the foregoing conditions, he shall refund to the Board all moneys expended on his behalf during his training.
