ELECTORAL NOTES.

Mr D, H. Mervyn has declared himself a candidate for the Waikaia electoral district Sir ('racroft Wilson, addressed the electors of the Meathcote district last night. A vote of confidence in him was negatived on the voices. Mr Hamlin, Chairman of Committees of the Auckland Provincial Council, announces himself a candidate tor the representation of Franklin. He stands in Sir George Grey’s interest. Mr Wakefield has addressed the Geraldine electors, ami has declared himself an Abolitionist, and opposed to Separation. A large meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the candidate. Mr Wilson, one of Mr Wakefield’s opponents, spoke against him, denouncing him as an advocate of the squatters, but he was not well received.
