The woman Drake, who in a fit of frenzy murdered her infant ani afterwards tiisd to destroy her o«-n li r e, is the mother of font children. Ihe child’s head was almost cut off. and her own throat was cut; from ear to ear, the windpipe being partly severed I’hc de"d was perfo med with a razor, which the woman had taken out of a box. Constable Tfioreau arrived at the barracks as the deed was committed, having gore there to make ar rang, ment for conveying the women to < hri tchurch in the morning. The child was two years and two mouths old. It,is supposed thit tiie knowledge by the woman that she was about to ba separated f om her child prompted her to commit the ho-ribie deed.
