AQUATICS.

The programme for the Lyttelton regatta of 1876 has been issued. The prizes wi 1 be—The Champion Sail ng Race : First prize, the New Zealand transship Company’s Cup, value 25 guineas and Llooadded. Interprovincial Fouroared Whaleboat Race; First prize, Mayor’s Cup, value L2O, with 1.50 added. In the Canoe Race the value of the cup offered is to be increased from L 5 to LlO.

At a meeting last night of persons interested in an annual regatta in Dunedin, Mr L. O. Beal occupied the chair. On the motion of the Rev. T L '■tanley, it was resolved, ’‘That it is desirable to hold a regatta in the Bay, and that such regatta be held annually upon a date to be fixed by the meeting, but subject to alteration by the Regatta Committee should the weather prove unfavorable ” The date of the regatta was subsequently fixed as January 2. The following gentlemen were appointed a Committee of Management The Mayor of Dunedin, Rev, R. L. .Stanford, Rev. T, L. Stanley, Messrs L. O. Beal, W. J. M. Larnach, W. Stavtly, T. H, Prosser, Ev,m Prosser, Somerville, F. Muir, John White, Gardiner, S. N. Muir, F. R Chapman, Nixon, G A. Fenwick, c. Genover, Hart, W. Edgar, and Quinlan; and th-y were empowered to draw up the programme of the day’s racing, and to collect subscriptions to provide prizes and defray the expenses of meetings, and to elect the necessary exncutive officers.
