CITY POLICE COURT.

Fpidat, November 12. (Before E. ff. Ward, Esq., and T. Birch, Esq.. J.P.’s.) , Drunkenness.—John --ulUvan, not appearing, estreated the amount of his hail (40s). Threatening Language.—William Asher was charged with using threatening language towards John Dempster on the Green Island Bush Hoad. Prisoner was before the Court on the previous day. and as his manner appeared somewhat eccentric he was remanded for medical examination. The doctor who examined him found that there were no traces of insanity. He was discharged with a can' ion. alleged Theft.—Elizabeth George, alias Anderson, was charged with stealing from the dwelling of George M‘Leod, at Kensington, on or about November 7, one sheet, one bed-cover, and four towels, of the value of LI 18s. Mr E. Cook defended —Prisoner occupied two rooms in j.rose.;u or’s house, and the quilt was f-mnd concealed under her bedstead, ihe other property was not discovered. She was discharged. —A further ••barge against the same person of stealing from the dwelling of George Mullin, at Kensington, on the 11th inst., one hat of the value of 10s, was withdrawn, there being no case.

Passing a Valueless Cheque.— I Thomas Lang auds was char ed will obtaining from Ihomas M‘Gill, draper, on Aov.-mber 10. by means of false pretences, two Crimean shirts and two pairs of socks, of the value of Li Js with intent to cheat and defraud.—The evidence was to the effect that on the 10th inst. prisoner went into prosecutor's shop, and asked for two shirts and two pair of socks. Mating been served he asked for a blank cheque, which he received and filled up for Ll 3s.
