At the special meeting of the Harbor B< anl eld to-day there we.'.! present his donor the | Superintendent (in"the chair), Messrs M'Kinnon, Eeid, Car-ill, Tcwsley, Reevßs, Turnbull, Davie, and Al'Neil. A letter was read from Mi 01. Jenkins regarding the mo ,e oi his elevated hopper and tidal incline. Board then re-unied consideration of the Engineer's report. The next matter was the construction of steam barge*. It was moved by \Lr Cauoill, and seconded by Air Kekves, " I hat tho l'oard having considered the recommendation of tho Lngineer, resolved that be fore sau;tiomng ,v> i finally adopting the S!>.iiie, i-ivoiviiig as they do the construction of steam plant at, lav..e expenditure, and altrgt extension of timber e.>ji;<,< ves, it is desirable to be fortified W:;h \,1.-.- advice as con.-.ulting engineers of one or more other engineers of the hi_',he.-t. sbmdiii.j available." Agreed to It was moved by Mr .M.',\eii,l arid .seconded bv Mr Tuknbui.L— " With •:* view of giving i ffeci, to Mr Car.,-i.'jU mot.on, ieslved that the chairman bo reqmv-fcd to -ommunieate with the Vic tonaii Government, with a view of obtaining the b netit of a visit from Ab jor Gordon." Thi;; was met by an amendment by Mr TIWSLEY, seconded by Mr M'Kinnox, "That plans and specifications be in th' fiist instance submitted to the General Government before securing ulviee else-a here." Tlie amend ment was put and lost, two voting tor and three against, it. The original motion was then put and agreed to by t'i r> e to two.
