Tho amorurt of revenue received at the Customjlouso on (roods oloared for consumption this day was T. 613 12:5 lOd. A fair amount of business has been transacted during the week. There have been two arrivals during the week, viz., the Otago, from London, and tho Florence, from Isos on. On Tuesday M'Lau- • tires.-!, Hepburn, nnd Co. offered the cargo of 3Ugar ex Lochiel *r- tn Mauritius. There was a full <utendaneo of the trade. Most of the browns and yellows were placed : good browns at LSI, find yellows at L 3-' 10s, L 33 r.s, and L 33 10a. None of the whites found buyers, offers not coming up to importers' limits. On Wednesday a general assortment of oilmen's stores was sold by auction, when the following prices weri? realised :—Morton's pint pickles, 'Js 7sd ; bottled salt, (is 3d ; pints, 10s 4Jd ; quarts, 10s 3d ; table vinegar, J*s 9d ; crystal vinegar, 10s; castor oil, half-pints, 5s Gd; pints, 9s 3d; Loa and PeiTin's sauce, hnlffint3, 12s ljd ; pints, 22s 9d ; white starch, 4Jd'; lue starch, 4td ; sardines, qrs, 5s 7\'\; kippered herrings, 1 2s fid ; red herrings, in tins, 335; sago, apples, 7d: fresh herrings, 5s 9d. A return of the' Customs revenue at the several ports of New Zealand for the quarter ending September 30flS75,;has just been -published. The total revenuo for the quarter is L 312,472; that of the eorrespenuing quarter for 1874 was L 311.631; showing an increase of LB4l. During lihe present year Auck«land contributed L 63.859, as against L 62.540 last year; Wellington L 42.505, as ©-gainst L 34.647, showing a consideraDle increase, iyttelton has slightlyincreased, the revenue of the past quarter being 143,962, while that of the corresponding quarter last year was 143,946. Dunedin again has fallen off, the relative items being LBS,3tH and L 94.212, which shows a decrease for the qmarter just ended of 18,848. THE LABOR MARKET. Mr Skene reports that there is a decided improvement in the labor market. Useful people are freely asked for. Late arrivals (being of the right stamp) are easily placed. Town businesses and trades .are slowly reviving. Female servants still short. Shepherds are scarce. Hotel business is still languid. Wages—uouples, L 75 to L9O; ploughmen, 152 to L 6 5; shepherds, 30s to 50s per week, or L7O ty the year; day laborers, Bn, 9s, and 10s; carpenters 12s, and 13s; dairy and handy people, 15s to 25s per week; boys and girls, 6s to 10s per week; store hands, 30a to 50s per week; cooks, grooms', barmen, &c, 25s to 60s per week ; bushmen, about 10a per day. THE SHARE MARKET. Mr Hooper reports Bales of National Insuruc«, 21s; Standards, 14s; South British, 49s to 50s; New Zealands, 42s 6d. Banks—Colonial, 24a «d, with 30s paid up; National Banks, 13 10s; Friendly Societies' Hall ihares, 38s; Walton Pork Coal Mining, 4m.
