Through the courtesy of Mr Monson, of Port Chalmers, we have been furnished with returns showing the arrivals at and departures from the port of Dunedin during the mon*h of October. ill-* total number of arrivals from all parts was 1,388. 'The United Kingdom supplied us with 1,199 of that number ; 545 being men, 3(15 women, 138 bovs and 125 girls N *w South Wales sent us 22. Victoria 110 men and 41 women, and > ong Kong 4 men and 1 woman. The emigration during the month was—T’o New Smith Wales, 14 men ; and to Victoria, 33 men, 18 women, and 6 children. There is therefore a balance in favor of immigration of 1.317 sou's.
