ARRIVAL OF THE OTAGO.
Messrs Patrick Henderson’s fine ship Otago was signalled nt the Heads tlTs morning, after a passage of eight-eight days from London. She is under the command of Captain Wood, late chief officer of the Christian M‘Ansland, and left. London on the 4th August. Had light E. winds down the channel; took final departure from the Lizard on the Bth. Had light W. winds to N.E. trades, which were caught in 36 X. on the 17th ; proved very light, and were lost on the 2Gth in 14 N.; thence doldrums and light W, winds to lldcg. 2min. X., where she got the S.E. trades. Crossed the equator on the sth September in long. 28 24. The S.E. trades hung well to the southward, and were lost in 23.3 on the 16th. The same day encountered a strong easterly gale which continued tntil the 19th, when she got the westerlies. Crossed tho meridian of Greenwich on the 26th, and that of the Capo on the 30th in 45. and ran down her easting in about 47. On the 2ud October in 44£ S. and 30 E. sighted several large icebergs, and passed a quantity of ice. On tho 6th sighted Crozet Islands, and crossed the meridian of (Jape Lcuwln on the 21st. Between the Leuwin and making the Snares on the 29th ult. passed a royal mast and a quantity of wreck ; had light variable winds along tho coast to the Heads last night, and was towed up this afternoon by tho Geelong and anchored otf the railway pier.
