London Journal for September ; Family Herald for August; Bow Bells and the Young Ladies' Journal for October. J. Braithwait, agent, corner of High and Fleet streets, Dunedin. The ‘ London Journal’ contains the opening chapters of a new story called “ Minnie Moyne/’ by J. F. .Smith, who wa believe has written for this journal some very acceptable stories. “A Daughter of Fortune,” “One Night’s Mystery,” and other stories are continued. The ladies’ supplement contains a traced pattern of a full - sized Louis XtlL’s dress for a little girl, and a choice number of patterns for trimming hats and bonnets. The ‘ Family Herald ’ gives the first few chapters of a new story, intituled “The Captain’s Daughter,” by the author of “Nora’s Sacrifice,” and continuation of other stories which have been published in former numbers. The novel of “Sibyl” is finished. An extra number is given this month, containing a complete novelette called “ The Story of a Wedding Ring.” It is intended for the special amusement of visitors to the sea side, but we have no doubt it will be found quite as entertaining if read over a oosy fireside. In * Bow Bells ’ several new tales are commenced, and some old ones brought to a close. Several very pretty patterns for needlework are given. The colored fashion plate is better than usual this month. The ‘ Young 1 adies’ Journal ’ is dull of good patterns for all kinds of fancy work, millinery, and dressmaking. The gigantic supplement
has a traced pattern for a lady’s polonaise for autumn wear. The usual colored fashion plate and a design for a chair seat in Berlin woolwork are issued with this number.
