VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The first stage for the North Dunedin Pifh Kelt y, as fired at the Pelichet Bay range thismorn'ng. The scoring, although not brilliant, is fully up to anticipations, seeing that the new jifles were used, and considering that the morn ing was a very bad one, as it was raining the whole time of firing, the t irgst being at times scarcely discernible. Several of the best shots did not put in an appearance, being of opinijn that the competition would be postponed till a more favorable day. Vi dunteer Frederick heads the list with the excellent score of 50 ; Volunt er W. Hutchinson being second with 46. The conditions wore —Seven shots at 200 yds, and seven shots at 500 yds ; any position. Thirteen volunteers competed ; below are appended the scores of the ten highest
