The s.s. Shag sailed last, evening for Shag Point, The s.s. Lady of tho Lake returned from her Molyncux trip yesterday. The, ship All car, for Melbourne, wns towed to sea this morning by the tug Geelong. The schooner Clio was towed alongside the barque Duke of Edinburgh to finish loading timber for Moeraki. The ship Wnimea was towed to sea this afternoon by the tug Geelong. She proceeds to tho Bluff to finish loading for Loudon. The Union Company's s.s. Maori, for Lyttelton via intermediate ports, took her departure this afternoon from the railway pier. r lhe schooner Wanganui, from Hokitika, arrived yesterday with a cargo of timber. She loft Hokitika on the 13th insl. The N.Z.S.S. Co.’s s.s. Taranaki arrived at 1,15 p.m, yesterday, and steamed right into the Graving Hock to have her bottom examined, she having touched the north reef whilst leaving Taranaki, the weather at. the time being foggy. As soon as the dock was pumped out her bottom was examined, but, not. the slightest damage in any part was to he 1 seen except to one of the blades of tier tan, the point of which was turned up, showing that, it must, have struck some hard substai.ee. The Taranaki left the Manukau at 11 a.m. ou the IGth, and called at Taranaki, Nelson, Pictou, Wellington, and Lyttelton. We thank Mr Edmonaton for report and exchanges. The Union Co.’s s.s. Taupo, with a large number of passengers from the Northern ports, arrived alongside the new jetty at 12.30 to-day. She left the Manukau at lj a.m. on the IGUiarrived at New Plymouth at C a.m. on the 17ih ; left at 8 a in., and arrived at Nelson at 8 p.m. same day; remained 1 here, nut il 10.13 a.m. on the 18th, ami pushed ou for Pictou, at which port, she arrived at 5.;lo p.m. ; left at 3.30 a.rn. on the UHh, and arrived at Wellington at 7.10 a.m.; left again at G p.m. on the 20th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 0 a.m. ou the 21st ; left at, G p.m., and arrived as above. Messrs M’Mcckan, Blackwood’s splendid new s.s. Ringarooma, with the New Zealand portion of the Suez mail, arrived alongside the railway pier trom Melbourne, via the Bluff, at 6.45 this morning. The Dunedin portion of the mail was immediately landed and conveyed to Dunedin by special train. The Ringarooma brings, besides 207 tons of cargo, thirty-three saloon and forty-five steerage passengers tor this port, and 104 tons of cargo and thirty passengers for other ports. She cleared Port Phillip Heads at 7.40 p.m. on the 16th instant, and experienced N. and N.W. winds, with fine weather, until the evening of the 19th, when she encountered a terrific N.W. gale, with heavy sea; thick squally weather prevailed, which compelled M'Lean to heave the vessel to for nineteen hours > the weather then moderated, and she arrived at the Bluff at 10 a.m. on the 2ist; discharged cargo, and left for Port Chalmers at 6 p.m. We thank Mr Miller (purser) for report and exchanges.
