At the Kosi lent Magistral ’s Court to-day, Thomas M'Matli, a fanner at Grovebush, was charged with wounding John Grant, r. neighlor.ng settlor. Giant had been in the habit of using a track through M‘Math’s properly,
and came to town with hi# dray on Saturday. On returning he found the track fenced. He went to a gate, and was chaUenged by defendant for trespassing, and after some words had passed Grant was knocked down and maltreated by M'Math, who bit n pieco out of Grant’s uo; e. Air Shrimski, late Mayor of Cam am, met the editor of the ‘North Ctago Times’ this morning and demanded an apology for a letter that appeared in that paper during the election for Mayor two months ago. The editor refused, upon which Mr Shi in-ski drew a horsewhip and made a cut at him. Tho editor then took him by tho collar and threw him clown in I the road, Mr Shnniski falling ou his face and cutting his cheek and nose. Ho soon got up and made another rush at the editor, who again pushed him off, throwing him on the pavement. Air Shrimski got up again and then the editor seized the whip and told him not to disgrace himself in the street. Eventually the late Mayor went off.
