FREE PASSES FOR CLERGYMEN. To the Editor.
Sir,—l see by your last night's issue that a deputation of ministers waited upon the Deputy-Superintendent yesterday re free passes by railway. It was there stated that free passes were allowed all ministers through turnpikes in Otngo. Now, sir, if by the term minister we understand only such as are ordained by Bishop or Presbytery tins may be correct; if on the other hand, as I take it, the term embraces all who go forth to preach the glad tidings of the glorious gospel, then it is not correct, aa 1 know macy who are engaged
in this migsion who are not allowed to pass without paying toll. If, therefore, the matter comes before the Executive might it not be well to consider this matter in its widest bearing, as I humbly submit the one is as much entitled to the privilege asked for as the other ? —I am, &c.,
An Evangelist.
