THE QUEEN'S THEATRE.
To the Editor. SlH,— I was surprised to find that the dresscircle at the Queen's Theatre was not crowded on Friday ovei mg, on the occasion of the benefit tendered ,o Mrs Darrel'. In point of elocution and acting, in the power of modulation, and by her rich and melodious tone of voice, Mrs Darrell takes a premier position as an actress, while her manner is graceful and natural.
How is it to be accounted for that the ladies of Dunedin do not appreciate the highest talent by filling, as they could easily do, the dresscircle ? I trust it is not too late to accord a supplementary benefit, with a repetition of last Friday’s excellent performance, as I am sure Mrs Darrell would be rewarded by well-filled stalls and pit—l am, &c., Dress-circle. Dunedin, September 4.
