THE FLOODED FLAT.
To the. Editor. . was standing at the of Car gill’s HiU during the late heavy rains I was sorry to observe, on looking over the Flat, that the townships Dunedin, Kew, St.
Kilda, Forbury, Musselburgh, land Kensington were more or less covered with water, making ingress or egress to the houses a matter of impossibility to many who ha 1 bought sections expecting that the laud would be properly drained, and also to many who, having recently arrived, were unaware of the liability of the Flat to floods.
Canyon, Mr Editor, suggest any means for remedying this state of tilings ? I wonder the proprietors of these private townships do not exert themselves to get proper outlets for the water on occasions of heavy and continuous rain, as I think very few others will think of settling there until something of that kind is done.—l am, See., Kensington, September 6
