Grahaiistowu, Sept. 3, A whole family living here narrowly escaped death from poisoning. They had been drinking water from an iron tank, which had been patched up with white load. The Thames burgess roll contains the names of thirty females.
New Plymouth, September 3. The ship Halcione anchored in the roadstead last night, all well. The doctor reports twelve cases of measles on the voyage, but all recovered. She experienced a terrific hurricane on Avgust 15, after which calm weather until her arrival. Up to 10 a.m. she had landed ninetysix immigrants, when the weather becoming threatening iu the roadstead, she again put to sea, and will probably go on to Wellington. She has aboard the Harbormaster and others from here.
A locomotive passed over the Wairakipn bridge yesterday. The railway is expected to be finished by the end of the month.
Invercargill, September 2. At a meeting of the Local Board of Health held this afternoon, it was. decided that the married people per Christian M'Ansland should be landed at the Quarantine Barracks. The single men and women remain on Loan 1. The vessel is to be inspected by the health officer on Monday. If a report is favorable the vessel will be admitted to pratique.
