CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, August 25. (Before A. C. Begg, Esq., and J. Brown, Esq., J.P.’s.)
Drunkenness. Wm. Cummings, Duncan Donglas, Elizabeth Marshall, and Thomas Andrews were each fined ss, with the alternative of twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. Obstructing the Police.— Richard Lookwood was charged with obstruoting Constable O’Brien while in the execution of his duty. Mr Aldridge, who defended, addressed the Bench in mitigation of the fine which might be imposed. Defendant, having recently beau convicted for a similar offence, was find L 5; in default, two mouths’ imprisonment, with hard labor. Voluntary Imprisonment.— Henry Young was charged byfjohn Davies, proprietor of the Albion Hotel, with breaking one of his windows. Prisoner pleaded guilty.— Inspector Mallard said there appeared to be some method in prisoner’s act. He gave himself into custody on Monday evening, saying he had no place to go, and was let off next day.—Accused admitted having broken the window, so as to be sent to The Bench gratified his desire by sentencing him to the full term of two months’ imprisonment. Neglected Child.— William Stuart Hamilton was sent to the Industrial School as a neglected child for one year.
