The cutter Dauntless arrived last night with a full cargo of grain from Waikouaiti. The p.s. Comeraug, for the Bluff and Invercargill, will take her departure this evening. The schooner Dagmar sailed this morning for Gatlin’s River.

The s.s. Lady of the Lake arrived last night from her usual trip to the Molyneux. The barque Craigielea was removed.from the railway pier yesterday afternoon. The Union Co.’s s.s. Hawea, with cargo and passengers, took her departure from the railway pier this afternoon for Northern Ports.

The Union Company’s s.s. Bruce returned from her usual trip to Lyttelton, via Timaru, at 3 o’clock this morning, and passed up to Dunedin. The N.Z.S.S. Company’s s.s. Ladybird, having been thoroughly cleaned and recoated, was taken out of the Graving Dock this morning, and the s.s. Phcebe was taken in to be cleaned and painted. The s.s. Express came down from Dunedin this morning, steamed alongside the ship Aldergrove for transhipments, and took her departure this afternoon for the Bluff.

The ship Knight of Snowdon, haring discharged her powder, was removed from the Quarantine Ground hy the tug Geelong this morning, and moored alongside the railway pier. She will commence to discharge her inward cargo into the railway trucks on Monday.

The new steam launch for the use of the Custom Department at the port made a trial trip yesterday afternoon shortly after the arrival of the 12.15 train. She left the old jetty with the following gentlemen onboard: —Mr Hackworth, Collector of Customs; Mr Conyers, General Manager Otago Railways; and Messrs Davidson and Monson. She steamed down the harbor close to the Timaru lightship, turned round and steamed back to the port, where she remained until 2.55 p.m.; then again left and steamed up the harbor to Dunedin. When off Blanki t Bay she took the ground and remained there about forty minutes. 11 , * The launch arrived at Dunedin at 4.30 p.m., having steamed up in fifty-five minutes. After a few minutes’ stay she returned to port under easy steam, and arrived the old wharf at 5.48 p.m. From the port to the lightship she averaged about ten knots per hour. SHIPPING TELEGRAM. Wellington, August 21.—Sailed: Easby, s.s., for Newcastle. She takes twenty-five saloon and fortyfive steerage passengers, and fifty tons from all ports. Arrived: Omeo, s.s., from Lyttelton.
