THE GOVERNMENT MEASURES.
To the Editor. Perceiving with regret that my previous communication has not yet stirred the public up on the abolition question, I feel bound to suggest that it would not be out of order for the Mayor to call a mass meeting of electors to discuss the subject pro and con. It is disgraceful that such apathy should be shown by the largest city in New Zealand. If something is not done at once we shall probably cry out when too late.—l am, &c., _ . Watchful. Dunedin, August 19.
