THE CAVERSHAM ELECTION.
To the Editor. Sir, —As one of the electors of Caversbam, I endorse Mr Isaac’s letter. In Mr Stout we have a candidate who possesses two of the first qualifications of a representative—viz., ability and integrity; and another thing in his favor is that ho possesses no squatting proclivities. If we do not take great care the whole of our unalienated lands will p&sa into the hands of large capitalists. Mr Larnach’s action in the Heriot Hundreds, as also his agency for “ Big Clarke,” will, I trust, be sufficient to open the eyes of the Oaversham electors. It must now be pretty well known that Mr Stout never, in any way, isolates himself from those he represents, and has perhaps consulted them more than any other representative in Otago.—l am &c., ’ n i , ~. Elector, Cavcrshara, August 14.
To the Editor, “ Take my advice.”—Paul Pry. Sir, In your issue of this evening appears a letter from Mr Barnard Isaac re the Oaversham election. May I inquire how lorn* Mr Isaac has held the appointment of Adviser 0 . Geneial that he should take upon himself firstly to give advice as to how the citizens should vote at the municipal election, then to give the Mayor advice how he should conduct the City business, and now ho wishes to dictate to the people of Oaversham whom they should chose to_ represent them in the Assembly ’ I think, sir, that Mr Isaac has mistaken his vocation; and it would be as well for the public at large, and better for himself, if he would confine his advice gratia to his patients, and leave public matters to those more capable of understanding them than he appears to be Yours, &c., Caqt* Dunedin, August 13,
