THE ANNIVERSARY OF BURNS.
To the Editor. Sir, —Should the ghost of the immortal bard come across your issue of last night, he will be apt to hang his harp on the willow (if there be any in the neighborhood) with fair dismay arising from two typographical blunders in reporting his latest effusion from the “Native land of Spirit,” viz., in verse four “sleep” should be “ help and in verse nine “garden” should be “gowden.”—l am, &c., ■ > Sandy, Dunedin, August 14. To the Editor. Sir,—l am thankful to the * Otago Daily Times ’ for its kindly recognition of myself and my efforts. In order to show that Mr Larnach’s opinions are known, let me state the following facts First, he is the agent of “Big Clarke’s ” son. Second, he got an injunction in his own name from the Supreme Court to prevent the Waste Land Board from selling land on deferred payments. Why did he move for an injunction to stop deferred payments ? I also ask him—Has not the influence of the New Zealand Mercantile Loan Company been pressing him to stand ?—I am, &c., Barnard Isaac, Dunedin, August 14.
