CITY POLICE COURT.

Monday, August 9. (Before H. Bastings, Esq., and J. Black, Esq,. J.IVs.)

Drunkenness. —V. Le Froz, Thomas Burns, John O’Connell, Peter Sullivan, Wm Millar, and Thomas Reynolds were all fined ss, with the alternative of twenty-fours’ imprisonment; George Watt, 10s, or forty-eight hours’; Charles Hop well, John Cochrane, and Francis Gould, 20s, or forty-eight hours,’ Disturbers op the Peace. Alexander Jamieson, for creating a breach of the peace in Maclaggan street on Saturday at midnight, was fined 10s, with the option of twenty-four hours’ imprisonment; William Pim, for a similar offence in Rattray street, and John Barry, apprehended for oi eating a disturbance at the coffee stall, High street, each 20s, or fortyeight hours’. Thomas Brown was discharged with a caution.

A Pick-pocket. —Thomas Dickesou was charged, on the infoimation of Constable Hindes, with having, on the 7th inst., stolen 4s 9d from the person of James Muir. Prisoner was observed by the constable to place his hand in Muir’s pocket, and extract the money therefrom. lie was sent to gaol for seven days. Petty Larceny.— George Longster pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of bools, the property of Wm. Sumner, of the value of 17s 6d, from the Waitati Hotel, and was sent to gaol for fourteen days.

With Desertion.—Edward Beasley was charged, on with tieserttng’ Us wife and twO' children rV Christchurch, leaving them without, proper means of support. An order was made for the payment of LI, defendant, in default, to be remanded to Christchurch.
