INQUEST.

An inquest was held this afternoon in the Court-house, Port Chalmers, before Dr O’Donoghue, upon the body of John Neilson, who was killed yesterday at the railway tunnel, Deborah Bay. After hearing the evidence of Messrs Smith, M‘Donald, Crisp, and Crawford the jury returned a verdict—" That the deceased, John Neilson, was accidentally killed in the Del •.ah Bay Tnnnel, by a fall of rock, while working therein cn the 2nd inst,, and added the following rider—"That the attention of the authorities be called to the present dangerous state of the tunnel, with the view of rendering it safe for men to work in.”
