A meeting of the Harbor Board was held this afternoon. The proceedings were unimportant, and our report is held over. Only two cases were decided in the Resident Magistrate’s Court to-day. In the case of Rachel L. John y. Jas, Finch, claim L2 4s Id, plaintiff was nonsuited with costs ; and in R. H. Bikewell v. A. T. Dunning, claim L 7 17s 6d, judgment was given for the amount claimed, with costs. The immigrants by the Aldergrove were open for engagement at £the Immigration Dep6t, Caversham, yesterday and to-day. and up to four o’clock this [afternoon a number k of hirings had been effected at the following rates : Single girls ; twenty at L2G to L3O per year; ploughmen, LSO to L6O ; farm servants, LSO; one married couple at LBO, There are still a large number awaiting employment.
