Wellington, July 27. In the House to*day Mr Reader Wood gave notice that he would ask to morrow whether the Government had taken any authoritative or legal opinion as to the legality of abolishing the Provinces, and whether they would lay the same, and all correspondence co inected therewith, upon the table of the House. Mr Macandrew presented a petition from 422 settlers at the Taieri district with reference to the setting aside of land on deferred payments ; also a petition on tho same subject from ninety-four settlers at Oreti. The House adjourned at a quarter to three to present the Address to the Governor.
