The election of Mayor took place to-day, ind nsillier candidate left a stone untamed to secure every available vote. Both committees worked very determinedly, and in the noighbornood of the various polling booths and committee rooms the interest was plainly visible. Last year, when Mr Ramsay was returned by a majority of \hirty-four over Mr Waller, there were 3,3(19 names on tho roll, and of this number 2,178 voted.
